About me

Picture
Born in Tokoroa, schooled in Ōtautahi and settled in Tāmaki Makaurau, my family and I have found our home in Narrow Neck on Auckland's North Shore. An involved member of the community, I worked, until the end of 2019, as Devonport’s Business Improvement District Manager, before getting elected onto the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board. I established the Devonport Arts Festival Trust and for 8 years have worked alongside a fabulous group delivering free arts events to the community, including an art trail of over 22 public art works. I was a founding member of the Zero Waste Devonport group, and previously worked at Kaipatiki Project Environment Centre as an Events & Projects Manager.

At the end of 2019 I was selected as Council Representative on the Tupuna Maunga Authority - a co-governance authority that oversees the restoration and future-proofing of Aucklands 14 historic and culturally-significant maunga that have been returned to the collective iwi of
Tāmaki Makaurau in a treaty settlement.

I have strong feelings about what a functional city looks like; it's one that meets the innate needs of all humans. It's a place that allows us to connect, a place that offers opportunities to learn and grow, and where we feel safe and cared for. A great city is a place where town centres prosper and job opportunities are abundant, and where each area retains its own flavour and unique appeal. A great city is one where the built environment is designed in harmony with the natural environment, and that natural environment is cared for and enhanced rather than damaged and degraded. It's a place where community facilities meet the diverse needs of diverse peoples, a place abundant with green space and tree canopy, and a place where our local history and cultural narratives are visible and understood. A quality city should celebrate diversity and be an uplifting and energising place to live our lives. It should be a place that we feel proud of.
